Primare SP31 Balanced Analogue & Digital AV Preamplifier Controller. Balanced Front Out.
Primare’s new SP31 is a comprehensively specified multi-channel processor with an advantage: it eschews standard, off-the-shelf processing solutions, in favour of Primare’s own proprietary DSP engine. When combined with superior analogue circuitry, this sophisticated DSP delivers a class-leading range of processing options (including a 7.1 channel mode) and an elevated standard of multi-channel audio and video reproduction.
Following the same design goals as the Primare CD/DVD players, the SP31 disproves the idea that exceptional stereo performance from analogue sources must be compromised by the inclusion of digital processing and video circuitry. It is designed as two totally separate units mounted in one case: a balanced pure analogue stereo preamplifier, and, via independent power supplies, a high quality 7.1 channel Dolby® Digital and dts processor with full video switching.
The 7.1 channel SP31 provides up to 192 kHz/24-bit processing for all current Dolby and dts formats. In addition, the processor incorporates a 5.1 channel “pure analogue input” for DVD-A and SACD sources, such as Primare’s DVD30 universal disc player.
Independent crossover points and output levels are provided for every speaker in every surround format. Enabling, for example, the front channels to operate at full range when listening to music, but with a 60Hz crossover point for Dolby Digital and an 80Hz crossover for dts. Output levels of all channels can also be optimised for each playback format.
The SP31’s eight digital and nine video inputs, combined with broadcast quality Component, S-Video and Composite Video switching, will accommodate high definition video and audio formats.
Its RS232 interface and four source-assignable triggers, enable a high degree of control over partnering equipment such as screens and blinds. An intuitive on-screen menu and interface provide straightforward set-up and operation.
